Dekansho Festival

One of Hyogo’s popular summer festivals is held at the Sannomaru Square complex, in the garden where Sasayama Castle once stood.

Dekansho Bushi, or Dekansho Song, has its roots in the Edo period. The song has been passed down from generation to generation and is now an important part of this festival, which features teams of local residents in traditional costumes dancing around the wooden watchtower in the center.

The festival takes place at Sasayama Castle and is accessible by public transport from Kobe.

Tamba Pottery Festival

The event are include special exhibition of pottery market and Tamba ware, and a corner for agricultural products, food and drink, and products where you can fully enjoy the taste of autumn in Tamba . There are various types of pottery, such as original potters and traditional art-style pottery.

Noh Stage in Kasuga Shrine

The Kasuga Shrine Noh stage was erected in 1861 at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate with the donation of Tadanaga, the 13th lord of the Shinoyama feudal lord. Tadayoshi was a Noh enthusiast who held full-scale Noh performances even before the Noh stage was built.

It is said that Tadayoshi built this Noh stage with reference to the Noh stage of Edo Castle Honmaru after serving as a key position in Rōjū for four years in Edo.

Sasaba Shrine Annual Festival

One of the three major festivals of the Tamba Sasayama Festival and has been handed down for 400 years.

There are some young men who ride horses while archery. It is said that when you get a shot arrow, that arrow will bring happiness.
